Five Cookie Run Kingdom Cookies as K-pop Songs

Part battles, part kingdom-building, Cookie Run Kingdom is an addictive game that has definitely raised my screen time by a few hours. Each cookie is unique in personality and power, so I thought what better way to combine my interests than to choose a K-pop song to represent my (now old) starter squad.

I’m honestly pretty bad at games and very out of my depth in terms of strategically picking cookies. As a result, the squad is quite simple.

Front Row

In the front, we have Dark Choco Cookie and Mala Sauce Cookie.

Dark Choco Cookie is a Charge cookie known for his Sword of Darkness that summons lightning onto his enemies. (If my descriptions are not accurate to the lore, I apologize to the fandom.) With lightning comes thunder, and in this case, Stray Kid’s “Thunder.”

With a powerful chorus and memorable choreography, “Thunder” is one of my favorite comebacks of 2021 and definitely one of my top 3 titles tracks from Stray Kids.

Mala Sauce Cookie is also a Charge cookie. She was the featured cookie when I first joined Cookie Run, so while she’s not the best cookie, I have a soft spot for her. Mala Sauce is in reference to the seasoning from Sichuan pepper that is numbing (ma in Chinese) and spicy (la). With a powerful aura and spicy personality, Mala Sauce Cookie would definitely have “Spicy” by CL in her hype playlist.

Middle Row

The middle row of my squad is made up of two Ambush cookies, Black Raisin Cookie and Sorbet Shark Cookie. They are my most powerful cookies and are very useful in attacking enemies.

Black Raisin Cookie is always accompanied by ravens who add to her ominous aura. Her attack style is characterized by sneaking among her enemies and quickly attacking. The accompaniment of birds and strong presence reminds me of “Wings” by Pixy. The song and music video are both eerie and memorable.

Sorbet Shark Cookie attacks in their shark form, landing with a splash. They have a positive attitude and love the sea. “Pado” by BIBI is a happy summer song that, as the title suggests, is about waves.

Back Row

In the back I placed a Healing cookie.

Custard Cookie III is one of the most basic Healing cookies, but he’s effective. Optimistic and part of royalty, Custard Cookie III fits “Crown” by TXT well. I would also argue that this song fits him well because of its healing lyrics.

When I first came up with this blog post idea, this was my starter squad, but after some more weeks of playing, I’m proud to say my squad has upgraded. In the future, I might do a part two with an updated set of cookies. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed finding songs to go with the cookies.
